My Attorney Is Withholding My Records, What Can I Do?

Generally, 10 days is the standard time for an attorney to get a copy of your records to you after the representation has concluded. No attorney may withhold your files if you request a copy, and even if you haven't yet paid the final invoice (assuming any monies are due). You are the owner of the files, even if the attorney technically created the documents, and remember to check your final invoice, you cannot be charged for the time spent in organizing/copying or otherwise preparing your copy of your files.
